Rogue Original and Limited Edition Art

Originally Anna Marie, the mutant heroine known as Rogue possesses the ability to absorb another person's energy, personality, knowledge and, in some cases, superpowers upon skin-to-skin contact. When grabbed or touched by surprise, Rogue usually finds herself overwhelmed by the other person's personality and memories, driving her into a temporary state of frenzy. When she intentionally touches another person, she can handle the sudden change. In general, Rogue retains a person's powers for about a minute for every second that she maintains physical contact.   Rogue's powers initially manifested when she first kissed a boy she liked, absorbing his energy and sending him to the hospital. Terrified of her newfound ability and afraid of hurting others, Rogue ran away from home and ended up being enlisted by the Brotherhood of Mutants and the mutant Mystique, who took her under her wing. Rogue would repeatedly clash with the Avengers and the X-Men. On Mystique's orders and for the sake of the Brotherhood, Rogue attacked Carol Danvers, aka Miss Marvel, using her mutant powers to subdue the superheroine. Unfortunately, the struggle and Miss Marvel's strength resulted in Rogue holding onto the heroine for too long. This resulted in Rogue permanently gaining Miss Marvel's powers of super strength, speed, durability and flight while simultaneous throwing Miss Marvel into a deep coma.   Rogue also ended up absorbing some of Carol Danvers' personality, resulting in a second voice in her mind. This, coupled with the traumatic battle with Miss Marvel, resulted in Rogue abandoning the Brotherhood and seeking out the X-Men, specifically Professor X, for help. She then joined the X-Men and has been a staunch hero with them ever since.   Raised in the South, Rogue is courteous and warm-hearted, a classic Southern belle.  But, with her Miss Marvel abilities, she can be extremely dangerous when provoked. Another facet of her character is because of the nature of her powers, Rogue has become resigned to a somewhat lonely life, being unable to get physically close to anybody.
