A robot character in the Star Wars universe. An astromech dried, R2-D2 is a major character in all six Star Wars films. Along with his protocol droid companion C-3PO, he joins or supports Anakin Skywalker, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Obi-Wan Kenobi in various points in the saga. He is easily the most famous droid in the entire Star Wars universe.
Because he only speaks in beeps, boops and other unintelligible robotic sounds, R2-D2 is often translated by his companion C-3PO, although R2 can perfectly understand other humans and aliens. Based on his actions, R2 is a faithful and brave companion who is unafraid of rushing headlong into danger for his allies. Based on his interactions with C-3PO, R2 is a plucky character who enjoys teasing and annoying his robotic friend.
