John Carter of Mars Original and Limited Edition Art

A Virginian, John Carter served as a captain in the American Civil War on the side of the Confederacy. Later in his life, while prospecting for gold in a cave, John Carter is mysteriously transported through some sort of astral projection to Mars. There, he discovers that due to the difference between the gravity of Earth and Mars, John Carter possesses far greater strength and speed than the natives of Mars. While on Mars, John Carter goes on many adventures, interacting with the denizens of Mars, and even marrying a Martian princess, Dejah Thoris.
